Proposed changes to five of Mid Devon’s Conservation Areas

Posted on: 28 January 2015

We have prepared a Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan for five conservation areas in Mid Devon, namely: Cheriton Fitzpaine, Newton St Cyres, Morchard Bishop, Silverton and Thorverton. The boundaries of these five areas are also being reviewed as they have not been looked at since designation over 30 years ago.

Conservation Areas are special groups of buildings or areas designated for their architectural quality (including trees and open spaces). Extra emphasis is given to their special character, preservation or improvement when making decisions about planning, highways, improvement schemes, etc.

The consultations will run for from 2 February to 16 March. Manned exhibitions will be held in each of the villages during this period and you are encouraged to come and view the proposed boundary changes and ask any questions you may have. Documents will be available to view at our offices in Tiverton and Crediton during normal opening times. All documents are also available on our website at:
Following the consultation, the boundaries and appraisal documents will be amended, taking into account any responses from this consultation. We will then make the final decision on whether or not to change the Conservation Area boundaries and/or adopt the appraisal and management plan documents.
