Promoting Mid Devon – advertise your tourism business for free
Posted on: 23 June 2017
Mid Devon District Council (MDDC) has formed a partnership with Visit Devon to promote Mid Devon and our businesses to visitors (including domestic and international markets). Mid Devon will have a dedicated platform featured on Visit Devon’s website which will highlight Mid Devon’s attractions, history and heritage, things to do, shopping, food, drink & accommodation. MDDC has secured a free listing for the first 400 businesses/organisations to the site. The listing includes:
- your Company name, address & telephone number (your premises/activity must have a Mid Devon postcode in order to take up this offer);
- a short business description and one image;
- your grades/awards along with prices, opening times and facilities;
- your location map and directions
Mid Devon will be listed first under the ‘explore’ section of the Visit Devon website alongside South Devon, Dartmoor, North Devon, English Riviera, Plymouth and Exeter. You can take a look at the website at www.visitdevon.co.uk Amy Dugard from MDDC states ‘We are working with Visit Devon to get the Mid Devon platform up and running from mid-July 2017. I hope organisations take up the free listing in order to promote what the area has to offer visitors. Also, if you are active on Facebook and Twitter please use the @visitdevon and #lovedevon to shout about our beautiful area. You can also advertise events for free through the Visit Devon ‘what’s on’ page’.
To register for your free listing on the site, please contact Tina Veater at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01626 798728. A discounted membership rate has also been agreed for Mid Devon businesses starting from £100 + VAT for a year for anyone who would like to have more visibility on the site e.g. website links/online bookings/priority in search results, etc.
Phil Brind, owner of the Horse Drawn Barge Company and Chair of Mid Devon Attractions Association, states ‘This is a great opportunity for Mid Devon businesses. To date Mid Devon hasn’t had the advertising it deserves and is often overlooked; I’m glad MDDC are working with Visit Devon to resolve this. Tourism related businesses need to sign up for the free listing so that we can highlight why visitors should come to the area, which will help increase footfall for everyone’.
The type of businesses or organisations we would like to hear from include, attractions – vineyards, breweries, castles, forts, museums, galleries, parks and gardens, stately homes, manors; activity providers – PYO, golf, walking, arts and craft, cycling, horse riding, bike hire, shooting, fishing, paddle boarding, water activities and conference venues; accommodation providers – including wedding venues and eateries – restaurants, tea rooms, pubs, farm shops, cafes, micro-brewery tours, food tours, and cream tea providers.
