North West Cullompton masterplan published

Posted on: 20 January 2016

Mid Devon District Council has today published its masterplan for the North West extension of Cullompton.

Over the last two years, officers at Mid Devon have worked alongside the land promoters of the site and Devon County Highways, Cullompton Town Council and other interested parties, to masterplan over 70 hectares of land on the North West side of the town. Mrs Jenny Clifford, Head of Planning and Regeneration, said, “When finished, this scheme will provide 1,120 houses, a new primary school, an employment site with 10,000 sq m  of floorspace, a community centre and local centre facilities, five gypsy pitches, green infrastructure and sports provision, including the proposed extension of an existing local club facility. There will also be a new road linking Tiverton Road and Willand Road which will alleviate some of the traffic pressures in the town centre. The early provision of both the road and primary school is prioritised within the document and has been agreed by Cullompton Town Council.”

The masterplan was twice consulted on with the public, in 2014 and 2015, and wherever possible it has been amended to take into account views received. It is now being presented to councillors for final consideration. Mid Devon’s Cabinet will meet to discuss the masterplan on Thursday 28 January at 10am at Cullompton Town Hall, to make a recommendation that will be agreed by the full Council in February. Members of the public will have a chance to attend these meetings and speak during public question time.
