Newcombes Meadow Play Area to be refurbished

Posted on: 6 November 2014

The District Council has been working on a project with Newcombes Meadow Community Group to refurbish the play area at Newcombes Meadow.

The works to build this will commence on 10 November with completion intended in time for the Christmas holiday.
The project has been developed with public consultation events and has endeavoured to include elements and features from the feedback from those events.

The toddler area is being relocated to just inside the main Bell Parade entrance. More equipment will be accessible for all children; there will be a climbing net, trail and zip-wire for the more adventurous along with more traditional equipment to provide something for everyone. Surfaced paths will provide access to most areas to allow all year round use and there will be new seating and picnic tables.

The Newcombes Meadow Community Group are seeking donations or sponsorship of the play area and park or parts of it. If you’re able to support this initiative then please contact the Group at

New and replacement equipment is also being provided at Barnfield and Lords Meadow.
