New Leader elected

Posted on: 31 October 2014

After 6½ years in the job, Councillor Peter Hare-Scott recently decided it was time to hand over the reins to someone new to lead the Council through to the elections in May next year and beyond. At a meeting of the full Council on 29 October it was agreed that Councillor Clive Eginton take over the role of Leader of the Council.

Councillor Eginton, already a member of the Council’s Cabinet and responsible for the Environment portfolio, was elected to the Council in 2003. He is the ward member for Taw Vale. On his appointment Cllr Eginton said: “I am looking forward to leading the Council for the rest of this municipal year and carrying on the good work already achieved.”

Councillor Hare-Scott will continue as a member of the Cabinet, taking responsibility for Finance. Councillor Neal Davey remains as Deputy Leader and will take over responsibility for the Environment.
