New gym refurbishment gets the go ahead for December 2018

Early Christmas present for the customers of Lords Meadow Leisure Centre
A total refurbishment of the fitness studio at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre will be completed by the end of the year.
Costing £185,000 the decision to revamp the facility was approved by Mid Devon District Council’s Cabinet on 25th October. This will see the centre’s fitness studio being kitted out with the latest, state-of-the-art equipment from Mid Devon’s leisure partners, Matrix.
The refurbishment at Crediton follows the highly successful launch of the same product at Exe Valley Leisure Centre earlier this year.
The fitness studio will get a new look and feel with the new equipment reflecting the changing expectations of gym goers, with aerobic machines incorporating high level interactive screens and more functional resistance equipment.
The equipment is designed for all abilities and will allow the successful G.P referral and cancer rehabilitation schemes to continue to grow, while also providing equipment for the seasoned gym goer and those training for sporting events.
As part of the fitness studio improvements a Boditrax machine will also be installed. The machine provides a customer friendly, precision, body composition tool and is the only item of equipment specified as medical equipment used within the industry. By measuring key criteria, such as resting metabolic rate, it can help people identify the most effective pathway to improved fitness levels. The introduction of this equipment has been a huge success at Exe Valley Leisure Centre with over 65% of members using it as part of their fitness experience
Councillor Colin Slade, Cabinet Member for Community and Wellbeing said:
“Following the success of our Exe Valley Leisure Centre improvements earlier this year I am delighted that we are now able to make these changes to Lords Meadow, and invest in Crediton. I believe that the new Matrix equipment will give our leisure customers the opportunity to take advantage of the best kit, in an improved environment. A real incentive to enjoy “New Year, new you” as we go into 2019.”
Work is planned to start in early December and should be completed in time for Christmas.Leisure
