Mid Devon’s accounts receive clean audit report
Posted on: 20 July 2017
For the second year running, Mid Devon is amongst the first in the country to have its accounts approved. The accounts were ratified with a clean audit report at a special Audit Committee on 17 July, the earliest date that local authority accounts can be signed off for 2017! The external auditors, Grant Thornton, also made positive comments on how well the Council was demonstrating value for money across the wide range of services it delivers for the residents of the district.
Peter Hare-Scott, Cabinet Member for Finance, said: “In addition to this technical piece of accounting work, it is pleasing to reflect upon the fact that in times of shrinking public sector budgets the Council managed to deliver a small revenue saving during 2016/17 against its overall budget and ensure that it was maintaining reserve balances at approved levels.”
Bob Evans, Chairman of the Audit Committee, said: “The Finance team worked hard to get the accounts completed in record time and thanks goes to them and our external auditors, Grant Thornton, for achieving this.”Posted in: My Council
