Mid Devon hosts regional housing conference
Posted on: 9 March 2016
Mid Devon District Council was delighted to be asked by the Local Government Association to host a south west regional housing conference last Friday, 4 March.
The conference saw up to 60 delegates from local authorities, housing associations and other housing professions from across the South West come together to hear about a range of issues affecting housing. Keynote presentations were received on the local authority’s role in housing supply and the pressures facing the future of housing in the South West. Subsequent workshops looked at the effect of planning legislation on the delivery of housing, financing future housing provision, new products for future housing delivery and housing solutions.
Councillor Ray Stanley, Cabinet Member for Housing, who attended the day said: “This was an excellent opportunity for Mid Devon to showcase our new meeting facilities and also to highlight the massive improvement that Mid Devon’s housing service has made since it was recognised in a peer review several years ago as having ‘little or no prospects for improvement’. This has been recently recognised in a benchmarking exercise that shows we are now in the top quartile for performance.”Posted in: Community | Housing | My Council
