Mid Devon District Council shortlisted for national LGC Award
Posted on: 2 November 2018
Mid Devon District Council has been shortlisted for the LGC Award for Councils Driving Economic Growth.
The award is for councils that are proactively driving growth; influencing and shaping the market, intervening as necessary and working collaboratively across boundaries and structures to enable and encourage growth.
Cllr Richard Chesterton, Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration, said:
“Over the last few years we have seen the council change its priorities, focus more on growth as a positive enabling force for our residents’ quality of life, and have looked to give the private sector confidence while driving our projects forward. With early projects now delivering, and more coming to the pipeline, being shortlisted for this award is a significant achievement and recognises our ongoing effort to drive economic growth in Mid Devon.”
The Council has been invited to present to the final judging panel early in the New Year, with a decision on the winners being announced in March.
Chief Executive of Mid Devon District Council, Stephen Walford, said:
“We’ll be up against some strong councils in the final and it is a testament to the hard work and determination of this council that we are now able to compete nationally in this context. I am tremendously proud to see Mid Devon shortlisted and I look forward to impressing the judges with all the fantastic things that are going on in Mid Devon.”
