Mid Devon Council to hold Annual State of the District Debate
Posted on: 10 January 2019
The Council’s annual State of the District Debate will be held on Thursday 24 January, commencing at 6.00pm.
This year’s annual debate will be held in the Phoenix Chamber, Phoenix House, Tiverton. The subject of this year’s debate is the impact of Brexit on the Mid Devon rural economy.
The Council is pleased to have secured the following three speakers:
- Linda Middleton-Jones – Secretary to Business Forum Mid Devon
- Charles Baughan – local businessman (Westaway Sausages)
- Andrew Butler – Devon advisor for the NFU
This will be an opportunity for anyone who has an interest in the subject to come along and listen to what our speakers have to say and join in the debate through a question and answer session.
It is not intended that the debate will argue for or against Brexit, but about how it could impact upon the economy of Mid Devon. The Chairman will look forward to hearing the range of views put forward and will seek to ensure the debate is a constructive session exploring what the following months and years may have in store for the Mid Devon local economy.
The evening is open to any member of the public and you are all welcome to attend what will hopefully be a lively and interesting evening.
