Mid Devon backs pledge on British Farming
Posted on: 5 August 2016
At a meeting of its Cabinet yesterday (4 August), Mid Devon District Council voted unanimously to back the National Farmers Union (NFU) pledge supporting British Farming. Speaking after the decision, Leader of the Council, Clive Eginton, said “Farming and agriculture make up a large part of Mid Devon’s economy, therefore it is vital we support this sector as much as we can. Bringing this decision to Cabinet was a result of a ‘Rural and Farming Network’ event I recently attended with the Council’s Chief Executive, Stephen Walford, where we agreed the importance of backing this pledge as well as establishing how we can take practical action to support the sector; something the Council will be exploring through its newly-formed policy development group looking at the economy”.
