Could you be a volunteer driver?

‘Transport for Your Community’ is organising a Community Transport Awareness Day across Devon on Wednesday 9 October.

Gwen Sanders, a user of the voluntary car scheme in Crediton, says ‘Without the scheme I wouldn’t be able to get into town as I have breathing difficulties and need help in travelling. It’s a lifeline’.

Community Transport is for the many people, especially in rural Devon, that may live miles from the nearest bus route, are unable to afford taxi fares or are physically unable to use the public transport services provided. Transport for Your Community provides transport to shops, services and leisure activities where no transport or no suitable transport is available.

We are always on the look-out for new volunteers, so if you have a few hours or more to spare and enjoy driving please give us a ring or email. Brian Williams – a voluntary car driver, says ‘I feel like I’m contributing to the community and paying back for the services I’ve received. It’s a way of saying thank you.’
