Prior to the changes to our waste and recycling service last year, customers living in the rural reaches of our district did not receive food or garden waste collections; instead they received weekly refuse collections. As the service has now been standardised, all residents’ refuse is now collected fortnightly and should be left at the kerbside either in black sacks or in one of our grey 180ltr wheeled bins.
We would like to remind residents that we’re unable to collect loose refuse from containers which cannot be emptied using the mechanical bin lift on our collection vehicles. Loose refuse in an incompatible container will no longer be collected in line with our health & safety procedures. To guard against bags being ripped open by animals, we do accept refuse stored in domestic waste bins, provided it is bagged using black sacks and tied at the top so that our collection crews can easily lift it out.
If you wish to purchase one of our grey 180ltr wheeled bins for the safe storage of your refuse, these are available for collection from our Tiverton depot for only £35.00 (+ additional £5.00 if delivered to your address). Please contact Customer Services on 01884 255255 for further information and to order.Posted in: Bins | Business & Economy | Community | Environment | My Council
