Local Plan Review approved for public consultation
Posted on: 2 December 2016
Full Council on 1st December 2016 approved the Local Plan Review for public consultation on the proposed changes to the plan. The Local Plan will deliver new homes, jobs, schools, vital transport infrastructure including improved motorway access and important strategic environmental enhancement schemes such as flood alleviation projects. It provides protection for our local green spaces, historic environment and landscapes.
Councillor Richard Chesterton, Cabinet Member for Planning & Economic Development, said “The new Local Plan provides a fantastic opportunity to deliver sustainable development that reflects the vision and aspirations of our District. This will include over 2,000 affordable homes, fundamental improvements to junction 28 of the M5 motorway, a new railway station and town centre relief road at Cullompton and enhanced community facilities. This latest consultation looks at the changes to the Plan which have been made in response to comments previously raised by the public and other organisations”.
Consultation will be held between 3rd January and 14th February 2017 with details to be published shortly. Following consultation, responses will be reviewed by the Council before the Local Plan is sent to an Independent Planning Inspector who will examine the Local Plan and all comments received.
