Posted on: 22 May 2015
The new #inclusivecrediton project was launched at the recent ‘Inclusive Activities Event’ hosted by Lords Meadow Leisure Centre on Saturday 21 March. In association with Upstream, the Turning Tides Project, Living Options and supported by Active Devon, the event offered a wide range of free activities and free taster sessions accessible to all. The event was a success in that many people enjoyed taking part, joining in with the new inclusive activities on offer with both young and old participating alongside each other having fun! Activities included boccia, table tennis, short mat bowls, trampolining, aquafit, seated exercise, yoga, football, taiko drumming, street dance and dance. The event was attended by over 100 people and saw the birth of the #inclusivecrediton project.
#inclusivecrediton Saturday Sessions
The feedback from those in attendance was both very positive and useful. It was used to formulate new #inclusivecrediton weekly session plans. These new #inclusivecrediton sessions which will be starting on 13 June and will be held each Saturday between 2 and 4pm.
Initial plans for #inclusivecrediton sessions will be that a variety of activities will be available for 2 hours, with one regular, facilitated hour of tutor-led activity included each week. This will change every 8 weeks or so with a special performance or event at the end of those sessions. Facilitated sessions for this summer will include taiko drumming and dance.
Full details about #inclusivecrediton Saturday sessions will be displayed in the leisure centre and on the following websites; Turning tides, Mid Devon Leisure , Living Options and Active Devon.
#Inclusivecrediton is a two year collaborative initiative that will receive funding from Active Devon, Mid Devon Leisure, the Turning Tides Project, Living Options and Upstream. It aims to create an inclusive environment through the provision of activities specifically for people with additional needs, investing in the development of facilitators, trainers and staff involved. All #inclusivecrediton project Saturday sessions will cost £2.50 per person (carers go free) making it affordable and accessible to all.
