Free microchipping event
Posted on: 4 March 2016
Last Wednesday afternoon Mid Devon District Council dog wardens held a FREE microchipping event for dogs. The grooming business ‘Groomed to Pawfection’ based in the High Street in Crediton, kindly allowed us to use their shop to host this event. It was a busy afternoon resulting in the successful microchipping of 45 dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes from Crediton and the surrounding villages.
Microchips were provided by The Dog’s Trust charity as part of their “Dogs in the Community” campaign, a project aimed at supporting councils in educating the community about dog welfare and the implications of irresponsible dog ownership.
From 6 April 2016 it will be a legal requirement for all dogs in England to be microchipped.
However, don’t worry if you missed this event as there is one more FREE microchipping event planned in Mid Devon on:
Tuesday 15 March 2016 at Cully Pet Shop, 31 Fore Street, Cullompton EX15 1JS between 3pm and 6pm.
The dog wardens would like to remind dog owners that it is the law to ensure that your dog wears a collar and tag bearing the owners contact details. This identification, along with a microchip, will ensure that any lost dog is quickly reunited with their owner.
For all enquiries please contact the dog wardens at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 01884 255255.Posted in: Environment
