Elsie May’s poolside café now open

Visitors to the Exe Valley Leisure Centre in Tiverton can now enjoy a wide range of home cooked food at Elsie May’s poolside café which opened today, Monday 10 August.

Elsie May’s was established a year ago when Steve and Mandy Jenks opened their first café in the former Tourist Information Centre in Phoenix Lane. The business has been a huge success and has enabled them to branch out and create this additional café at EVLC.

Elsie May's SofaThere’s very much a vintage, ‘at the beach’ feel at the café along, with 1940s and 1950s glamour reflected in the décor and furniture. You can even relax in one of the deck chairs overlooking the pool and appreciate the seaside feeling as you enjoy your refreshments.

The menu at Elsie May’s poolside café includes a selection of sandwiches, baguettes and wraps, an all-day breakfast menu, jacket potatoes, cakes, pastries, a salad bar and more. There’s also a variety of hot and cold drinks and, coming soon, a smoothie selection.

Meal deals can be eaten in or taken away, so if you haven’t time to stay, take a healthy snack of your choice away with you for only £4. There is a ‘Mini Mays’ menu for children and a ‘Baby Mays’ menu for the very young, including ‘teeny weeny’ meals for just £1.50. There’s something for everyone, from tea and cake for those who just like to come in for a chat and a cuppa, to the healthy options available for the more health conscious who may have just spent an hour in the gym.

Initial opening hours will be from 7am to 8.30pm weekdays, 9am to 5pm Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. Also available is catering for children’s birthday parties, so if you’re holding your party at the Centre, pop into Elsie May’s and ask about their party menu.

We’d like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone at Elsie May’s and wish them every success with their new venture at the Leisure Centre.
