Devon Youth Games – help needed for trials

Posted on: 2 March 2015

This year the Devon Youth Games are being held in Paignton on Sunday 12 July. These games are an opportunity for school children across the whole of Devon to come together in a variety of team sports and to have fun, while competing to win prizes. Previously, Mid Devon’s team has done well in some sports … so we have a reputation to maintain!

There are various different sporting categories where Mid Devon is hoping to field a team at this year’s Games. These include hockey, netball, high 5’s, boccia, table tennis, badminton, tennis, rugby, football, gymnastics, street sports, indoor athletics and kwik cricket. School year groups range from 3&4 for gymnastics to 10&11 for street sports. We do have some willing and able coaches/volunteers lined up to support some of these sports, but we’re keen to recruit more volunteers to help with coaching and coordinating the trials. Specifically, we’d like to hear from you if you have an interest in table tennis and cricket (the kwik variety).

Trials for Mid Devon teams will be arranged as soon as we have identified sufficient interest from coaches/volunteers to lead the various sports and more details will be available soon.

This is a great opportunity for Mid Devon children aged 8 and above to represent the district at this prestigious event. If you are willing to help please contact Sylvia Holme on 01884 234201 or email sholme@middevon.gov.uk to find out more.
