Changes to leisure prices proposed

Posted on: 25 January 2016

As one of a reducing number of local authority leisure providers, Mid Devon Leisure’s aim is to offer its users a high quality experience each time they visit one of our three centres. We will be working hard to make sure that this continues, introducing new activities and benefits for our users to meet their needs and expectations.

Councillor Colin Slade, Cabinet Member for Community Well-Being, said: “Over the years the funding offered by central government to support local authorities has reduced significantly and this, in turn, has had a knock-on effect on the funds available to support the leisure service. Yet, we have made recent investments in the centres, updating the equipment and improving the overall experience for our customers. Pleasingly, this has resulted in increased use.”

However, so that we can continue to offer a high quality service, a review of our prices has been necessary and those proposed changes will be considered by the Community Wellbeing PDG at its meeting on 2 February. Recommendations will then be made to the Cabinet for agreement at its meeting on 11 February. It is proposed that price changes will be introduced from 1 April and all of our existing customers will be notified of any changes.
