Action plans to improve Tiverton Town Centre and the Pannier Market

Posted on: 22 July 2016

Mid Devon District Council is working on action plans for Tiverton Town Centre and the Pannier Market and would like your feedback.

For the Town Centre our plans include a range of improvements to the attractiveness, cleanliness and accessibility of the town, as well as reviewing the signage, branding and street furniture.  We want to work with businesses and other groups in the town to deliver these improvements.  In addition, we would like to expand the nature of the offer by looking at the night time economy, making the town centre more family friendly, improving safety and security and looking to foster new business success by creating areas for start-up and fledgling businesses.

Our strategy for the Pannier Market includes focusing on marketing, branding and promotion and improving the appearance of the market by maximising the space available.  We want to engage with the community, customers and traders, bring new businesses and traders into the market and work with educational institutions to get young people involved and to promote a healthy lifestyle through good food knowledge.

Richard Chesterton, Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Regeneration, says “We have some exciting plans for Tiverton Town Centre and the Pannier Market.  This is an opportunity for as many people as possible to give us their thoughts and feedback to help us shape what the final plans will look like.”

The consultation period runs for 6 weeks from Friday 22 July to Friday 2 September 2016.
