Award winning Electric Nights
Posted on: 28 January 2016
We are delighted to say that Electric Nights has been recognised at the Great British Market Awards as the winner of the Best Small Food Market. In presenting the award to Zoë Lentell, one of the main organisers of the events held last summer, the Awards’ organisers acknowledged Electric Nights as an exciting market that enhances the local night time economy with copious local support, trader interest and changing themes. Involving local community groups, it provides a welcoming fun evening out in the town centre for all the family, in a safe environment. Advertising and marketing is extensively through social media and the partnership approach has brought about free town centre car parking. This market supports and promotes local food and drink vendors and musicians from the South West.
Councillor Richard Chesterton, Cabinet Member for Planning & Regeneration, said: “many congratulations to the team who worked so hard to get Electric Nights off the ground and making it such a success. We are already looking forward to what’s being planned for this summer and know that the events will bring lots of visitors to Tiverton.”
Amy Tregellas, Head of Communities and Governance, said: “I am delighted that the team behind Electric Nights have received an award for its success. A big thank you must also go to all of the traders involved in the events and the public for attending. We are already working on our programme for this year which will be restarting on Saturday 7 May. Themes for the year will include Love Your Local Market, 1920’s Flappers Theme for the Queen’s 90th birthday, Summer of Sport, Rio Carnival and Around the World in 80 Flavours. Look out for further announcements in due course.”Posted in: Community
